A Short Stop at Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve

A View from Above the Kishwaukee RiverTuesday evening after I had taken the photographs of the barn on the south side of Rockford I made a short stop at the Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve. I hadn’t been here since early in the spring, and that had been on the west side of the river. That would make this another first visit in my book.

Wingstem, Yellow Ironweed - Verbesina alternifoliaThe visit was short due to the late hour and I hadn’t had dinner yet and was very hungry. I had stopped by here with intent just to drive through as a scouting trip to see what might be on this side (east side) of the river. As I was turning my car around I caught a glimpse of stairway made from stones out of the corner of my eye. Yep that was all it took to get me out of the car!

Through the Rocks 001Today I am going to share a few of my photographs from the stop. I also want to let you know that I will indeed be returning here Saturday to get better shots of the stone structures.
